Official Connecticut Snow Totals March 6-8, 2013

I post these with a bit of trepidation. Every time I do someone (usually many someones) writes to say it’s wrong for their town.

Probably.

Snow measurements are never exact (and I always wonder about totals to the 1/10th inch), but this is the best we’ve got. These numbers are from the National Weather Service, plus their network of volunteer spotters. These are the numbers considered ‘official’.

23″ in Staffordville takes the prize for most snow in Connecticut today. Mazel tov.

  1. Jennifer says:

Glad to be completely off the list this time in Hamden. I guess we got about 5 or 6″?

  2. Big Frank says:

Right. And my snowblower and I cleared off the other 8 inches after the first 6 fell….

  3. Ellen says:

Not too many towns for Middlesex County…. Here, in the SE corner of Middlefield, we got 15″. So wet the snowblower didn’t like it much.

  4. Marsha says:

Here in Waterford we got about 8″ – way more than I expected (or wanted!).

  5. Deb in QH says:

Um, 23″ is NOT a prize. Unless you REALLY like to ski.

    • Geoff Fox says:

Helaine has been kvetching about Hamden’s 40″ bullseye status in the last storm, since the last storm. Staffordville, enjoy the honor.

    • 793tango says:

Or snowmobile. or maybe walk around on snowshoes.
bet the kids love the sledding though…

  6. Sharon says:

About a foot in Bethany. It snowed for hours after those measurements were taken. It’s falling off the trees now.

  7. Bill Flood says:

Why only 3 towns in Middlesex County? That’s pretty weird.

  8. Al - N1API says:

NBC Nightly News just had a news report on “The European Model” and why is has become more accurate than the US models. The short answer more money spent on computing power.

  9. Kenny says:

I can verify Staffordville. Not only did we get 23 inches but it’s very wet and heavy. I had to use heavy Equipment to clear my driveway.

  10. 793tango says:

Didn’t get 8″ at my house or at work, which is half a mile away. not saying the ‘official’ number is wrong, just that it’s different than what fell at my place.
Do want to go on record saying our superintendant is an idiot. He never shoveled the snow which froze into an icy lumpy mass overnight that was downright dangerous to walk on this morning.
