It’s Wabbit Season

Springtime in our neck of Irvine is rabbit wabbit season. They’re everywhere. To paraphrase an old saying, “They **** like bunnies!”

By August they’ll be mostly gone. I try and warn them about joining the coyotes for dinner, but they don’t get it. This is the natural cycle of life.

Helaine insists there’s only one and his name is Fluffy. I’ve seen two at the same time, but I understand what a spouse must do for marital tranquility. Fluffy it is.

Amazingly, Doppler doesn’t notice them at all! You would think after finally being near an animal she towers over she’d get excited. Maybe she needs to be checked for glasses?

Our Neighborhood Rabbit

Helaine spotted tonight’s rabbit from the upstairs bathroom window. Would he stay long enough for me to get my camera? Would he let me approach? Would he have a white cotton tail?

This is rabbit season. They’re all over the place. Unfortunately for them the coyotes have dinner plans.

Photos Of The Cute Bunny In My Yard

I made it to the front steps just as the bunny took off. He wanted a little cover and protection. He found it alongside a large rock in my neighbor’s yard.

Four words: “Is that a bunny?” As soon as Helaine asked it I was off… not toward the bunny. I was heading upstairs to get my camera, plug in a battery and switch lenses.

“God,” I said to myself, “I hope he doesn’t have a short attention span.”

I made it to the front steps just as the bunny took off. He wanted a little cover and protection. He found it alongside a large rock in my neighbor’s yard.

Our rabbit friend sat graciously as I snapped away and closed the distance between the two of us. Finally he’d had enough and was gone.

Here are my three best shots.
