My Educational Waterloo

Last night was midterm night at Mississippi State. For the past six semesters I have managed to maintain straight “A”s. That’s about to come to a screeching halt.

One of last night’s tests, Synoptic Meteorology II, was the toughest I’ve taken at MSU. The results bore that out. I got an 80. Disappointing, and I’m not sure I could have done better.

Now I wait and hope when all the questions are reviewed, the instructor allows additional acceptable answers. It’s happened before. That’s my best chance.

There’s also the chance he’ll re-grade the test on a curve. I’m grasping at straws.

The whole MSU program is to formalize the theory behind practical applications I already know (and have practiced for over 20 years). Friends have told me I’m nuts to be so obsessive about these grades. Who will ever see them, much less care?

Why does this bother me so much?
