I have heard this ‘fact,’ that the Earth wobbled during last week’s earthquake, dozens of times. It is a pretty profound things to say. Unfortunately, it’s somewhat meaningless. Every time I take a step the Earth wobbles. It’s a wobble that’s not measurable… just as the wobble from the earthquake was too small to measure.
What I’m getting at is, every movement of mass upon the surface of the Earth has an effect.
This isn’t to diminish what was an event of historic proportions. I ‘m just questioning why add hyperbole to the mix?
Not so. The Earth’s wobble from last week’s earthquake was measured to be about 1 inch.
