Almost Forgot To Mention

In the previous blog entry, I talked about playing with video on my computers. But, I forgot to tell you what video I was playing with.

About a dozen years ago I made my first appearance as a fill-in, doing weather on Good Morning America. During a cut-in, seen by a tiny fraction of the country, I was fresh meat for Joan and Charlie as they filled four minutes of otherwise dead time.

Here’s a look at what I did – and what was only seen in the country’s smallest market. (Video requires REAL player and broadband access).

This is one of my alltime favorite moments on TV. Even as it was happening, it was difficult to believe it was happening to me.

  1. Geoff- what a stroll down memory lane!! Interesting to see how $98K for 4 years of Yale is now probably $200K!!

I would also say that New Haven has improved a great deal over the last 12 years.

I wonder what Charlie would say about being at WTNH for 20 years now……

  2. I think it’s fair to say that you had Mr. Gibson back on his heels a bit when talking about New Haven! Your extemporaneality was superb under pressure. Gibson and Lunden are all time greats-and this must have been a treasure for you.

  3. Goodness, what a pleasure it must have been having some “coop” time with Charles & Joan. You were as polished as can be and professional. Thanks for sharing!

  4. that was great!!!! I’m still confused as to why they didn’t continue to use you as a fill-in considering that your personability and professionalism make you among the best. Maybe you can get Charlie to intercede on your behalf (some groveling may be necessary!) Oh well GMA’s loss is most definitely our gain.
