Photos Of Mt. Desert Island, Maine

Even though the culling and editing process has just begun, I thought I’d post a few of my photos. They are each ‘clickable’ for a more detailed view. The original six megapixel files are just too large for the web.

I am very pleased with how many ‘keepers’ I came home with. Maybe I’m a decent photographer with a good camera, but the biggest contributing factors are the full sunlight every day and the incredible scenery.

Much of Mt. Desert Island’s topography was shaped during the Earth’s various Ice Ages. Sure there’s water, because all islands are surrounded by it! What makes Mt. Desert different is the number of landlocked inland bodies of water carved by the advancing glaciers.

It’s a large island where you’re never far from water – even if you’re far from the coast.

  1. Awesome pictures!

What was the weather like up there? We have relatives in East Corinth, ME and I’m always reluctant to visit because I fear the frigid weather!
