Unreal – A Morning At The Balloon Fiesta

We were up after 4:00 AM and out of the room by 5:15 AM. Balloons fly when conditions are right and dawn is usually the ‘rightest.’

From a mall parking lot, very close to our hotel, we boarded a bus to Balloon Fiesta Park.

Things get underway slowly. Two balloons rise in the darkened sky; one with the American flag.

Then, as the sky lightens, they take off. Hundreds of balloons… and not just the ‘normal’ ones, but special shapes.

It’s not until the sun rises and the balloons are brightly lit and deeply shaded that the sky takes on an unreal look.

Here are a few of the better than 200 shots I took early this morning.

  1. I read that CBS Radio News led off a broadcast with news that Christopher Glenn, eight months after retiring from CBS News, passed away suddenly from a heart attack in Norwich, Connecticut at age 67.
