Going Down

As of this morning, 323,333 pages are restricted by my robots.txt file. All that means is, Google once found and counted them. Because of how the attack on my site was structured, the potential number was infinite.

For the first time this year, the number of web pages Google thinks I have, but I do not have (the real sign of how serious the hack this site received) is down this morning. Down slightly, but it’s the trend that counts.

As of this morning, 323,333 pages are restricted by my robots.txt file. All that means is, Google once found and counted them. Because of how the attack on my site was structured, the potential number was infinite.

Now Google knows I don’t want those pages counted.

At the same time, the percentage of traffic going to my oops page has also dropped. It’s still the majority of my traffic, but not quite as much.

i’m not going to lie. This has been a royal pain. There is also an upside. I was forced to upgrade this blogging software and have learned a lot more about web programming.

I know most of you reading this blog are bored to tears by my tech talk. Thanks for putting up with it. I’ll be back to my life as a social misfit shortly.
