If you asked, “Do you use IM,” my first reaction would be to say seldom. I’d be wrong.
I am surprised to say I am using IM more-and-more. That might not be a surprise to you, but it’s how I use IM that’s so strange to me. My increases are coming because I use Instant Messenger more-and-more for work.
A few of the vendors I deal with keep IM on at their tech support desks. I wish they all would (are you hearing that Madison).
A few of my friends, meteorologists in other parts of the company, often give me heads up messages on interesting weather tidbits. They make me look smarter than I am (though not smarter than they are).
A few hours ago, I sent a quick message to James at the company that provides our school weather stations. It was easier to send a few words than make a phone call. And, he was able to take a look at my problem based totally on what we typed.
I watch Stef, with her dozens of IM contacts flashing on her screen and think, that’s not for me. In fact, there have been times I’ve looked past an incoming IM. I’m not alone in that, am I?
You know.. What’s funny about the statement is they all used to have IM up when they were on Tokay. At least the “gnomes” did anyway, not sure about the people upstairs.
