Wow! It was really hot today. I think this 100° reading is a bit overdone, but not by much.
It’s probably reading from a sensor not far above the road surface. Most of these systems are actually designed to warn you of icing conditions on the road.
My Volvo has one that is in the lower part of the bumper, and a warning light that comes on when the temp is close to freezing.
Hot asphalt in the sun gets nice and toasty…
