Media And Technology

propublica.gifI will try and be brief.

Watched 60 Minutes and saw story on Al Hurra. Story was co-pro with ProPublica, which says it’s “journalism in the public interest.” Never heard of them before.

After the story, I went to ProPublica’s website. Simple design. Clean. Look at the menu.

This is the first time I’ve seen media and technology aligned as a single category. Good call. The two are more intertwined than ever.

In the abstract, technology is good for media. Not so much over a longer term.

This past winter I wrote about “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” and how it was the last of its breed. High production cost shows are gone for good. There will still be talented people, but big money tends to aggregate them to fewer spots.

We are entering an era destined to produce an explosion of content. Most of it will be awful.
