It’s happening again. Someone’s sending out hundreds, maybe thousands of spams and making believe they’re coming from geofffox.com! I know because the spam shrapnel is bouncing back to my mail account.
To get to me spam has to pass through two pretty good filters. So, when I start seeing undelivered mail showing up in my in-box, I know something’s wrong.
The attached image is a screencap of my spam box at geofffox.com and represents ten minutes worth of bounces–ten minutes!
Years ago these spams would be accompanied by complaints from people who actually thought it was me trying to entice them into buying drugs or watches. Now spam is accepted as an unavoidable pain on the Internet. That’s sad.
I’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating. Until the sender’s identity can be absolutely confirmed email will operate at a fraction of its potential.
