Email Lists You Can’t Get Off

“Please allow up to 10 days for changes to your subscriptions to take effect,” they advise. Why? If you subscribe the emails begin within ten seconds.

The email came with large orange type:

“Remember Karen Cobiana Newest Class of ’68 Alum.”

No I don’t remember her. Maybe that’s because I went to an all-boys high school!

The email came from classmates.com and they passed the point where they were getting on my nerves a while ago. They say “real people, real names.” I’d remember a Karen.

It is so easy to get on Classmates list. It’s so tough to get off. I know. I’ve tried.

“Please allow up to 10 days for changes to your subscriptions to take effect,” they advise. Why? If you subscribe the emails begin within ten seconds. Isn’t this just an automated call into a database?

The unsubscribe page is confusing–easy to make a mistake. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe I screwed up the few times I’ve tried to extricate myself. Nah–who am I kidding. I can fill out a form.

Classmates: Gimme a break. Get out of my life and take Karen with you.

  1. Yep, Classmates will never let you go. I’ve tried also. Glad I signed up using my G-Mail account because I just marked Calssmates as spam once and now it always goes to the spam folder. Problem solved.

  2. geoff , they are phishing , and by replying to them to ” unsubscribe ” only confirms that your’s is a valid email address , and it will make it to the next list for the worldwide spammers intl. monthly list of names. it is a pain in the ass , but , until we find a better way to deal with these people we are going to have to live with these lowlifes intruding into our lives ( computer ) and possible worst. just as i feel all the stupid emails going around that want us to fowarded to ” all you friends ” is an email gathering technique .
