Here Comes Her Birthday

I don’t have much experience with women in their early twenties. When I was in my twenties they shied away from me.

Note to self: Nerdiness isn’t pretty.

I mention this because the graduate turns 22 tomorrow. I tell her it wasn’t that long ago I was changing her diapers… and not long from now she’ll be changing mine.

22 isn’t the seminal moment 21 is. You cross no threshold. It’s just another day older–though at 22 Steffie doesn’t mind as much as I do.

However, if tomorrow you ask Stef how old she is you will be told, “21.” That’s the same age you would have been told two years ago too!

As she explains it, 21 is a ‘cute’ age. Guys find 21 more attractive than 20 or 22. She sees no reason to disappoint them in this regard.

How long can she stay 21? As long as she wants.
