Google Hits My Block

I shouldn’t… but I do feel a little violated. My privacy has been compromised though this is nothing in the picture you can’t see from the street–obvi.

google-earth-image.jpgGoogle has been on my block. Who knew? I live on a lightly traveled suburban street–a cul-de-sac. I never expected we’d be included in “Street View.” Somehow I figured that was limited to major thoroughfares.

My house is hidden by the trees out front. That’s because this shot was taken in the spring. At other times of the year we’d be exposed.

I shouldn’t… but I do feel a little violated. My privacy has been compromised though this is nothing in the picture you can’t see from the street–obvi. I can’t tell you how the guy on the riding mower feels.

It’s the camel’s nose in the tent, isn’t it. Over time there will be more and more documentation of everything because it’s cheap and easy to do.

How long before it’s real time?

  1. my friend’s house is on Google Earth w/ a Porsche in his driveway that he’s never seen before. To make it more confusing, he owns a Porsche himself, just not this one.

  2. I’d love to have a Porsche photographed in my driveway… If you looked right now you’d just see my Toyota Yaris…that has the big ham stick on the back 😀

  3. I looked up my father-in-law’s address in FL just for fun one day. Imagine my surprise when I found the google steetview of his house and there he was standing in the driveway!
