Roxie Unfazed

Dogs are supposed to be spooked by noise or interruptions from the norm. All Roxie cares about is getting her minimum daily allowance of teething–including whatever flesh is convenient.

We had horrendous rain and vivid lightning tonight. Roxie remains unfazed!

Here she is on Helaine’s knee and, as always, staring down the camera!

  1. Some dogs take storms in stride – you’re lucky. My Vizsla is a hunting breed, aka “gun dog” and he starts hiding from storms and shaking like a leaf an hour before it hits here…if I’m watching a movie that has a thunder scene, he gets up and heads for the basement. So much for 5.1 surround sound w/ a sub-woofer.

  2. Some dogs just don’t overreact to thunder and lightning. If the dog feels safe and secure, they don’t panic.

I had one Tibetan Terrier that would go outside in a full thunderstorm, heavy lightning and thunder, and he did not mind it a bit.

Others I’ve had will panic hours in advance of a T-storm, or at the slightest flash of distant lightning.

You got solidly lucky with Roxie, IMHO. Enjoy it!
