When Trepidation Strikes

I suppose I could have just plowed along and tried things out. Believe it or not in the past I’ve found PCs mostly bulletproof in these situations! Instead I called tech support.

I went to bed last night with trepidation about the new PC. There were a few little nuances I didn’t understand. In a situation like this (as I remembered) there is always a moment when you wonder if you’ve bitten off more than you can chew?

The motherboard was looking for an 8-pin plug. The power supply had two 4-pin plugs. Was that the same thing?

The video card came with one DVI to VGA adapter. I needed two. Did the card support it? Could I use a generic adapter?

I suppose I could have just plowed along and tried things out. Believe it or not in the past I’ve found PCs mostly bulletproof in these situations! Instead I called tech support.

Three calls–Asus, OCZ and PNY. Though there were voicemail trees to navigate I was able to connect with actual humans… native English speakers… from all three–and quickly. Their answers were what I assumed they’d be, but now I’m reassured.

The only tiny problems were Darryl at PNY who sounded as if I’d just woken him and the wrong number for Asus tech support on my NewEgg invoice. Like I said–tiny.

The build continues tonight.
