Roxie Goes To The Beach

She was friendly with humans though aloof toward other dogs. Maybe she hasn’t figured out she’s a dog?

This is the last weekend of the summer. Sigh. It was a stunningly sparkling day with temperatures in the upper 60s and a very light wind. Helaine and I decided to take a drive to the beach in West Haven and introduce Roxie to the shore.

If you’re reading this from out-of-town a little background. There are no ocean beaches here in Connecticut. Our shoreline is on Long Island Sound. The protected Sound seldom has big waves.

West Haven has some sandy beaches, but we were going for the paved walkway that runs alongside the water. On a day like today it was busy with people and, in many cases, their pups.

Roxie seemed to have a good time. She was friendly with humans though aloof toward other dogs. Maybe she hasn’t figured out she’s a dog?

From time-to-time she forgot she was on a leash and wrapped herself around Helaine’s ankles. It looks funny, but it was really tough to unwind!
