Trouble At The Next Gate

They are taking the engine apart on the plane at the next gate. That’s never good!

Overheard from a passenger in the Business Select portion of the line-up: “I’ve been flying for years and I’ve never seen this.” Me neither!

Pretty much everyone with a camera phone rushed to the window to take a photo. I pulled out “Clicky.” When I was on the plane “Clcky” came out again!

Here’s one thing I did learn. When the cowling is pulled off the engine and repairs are underway one tool used is a… wait for it… mallet! That seems so inelegant and wrong. Glad it wasn’t my plane.

  1. Had a similar experience in 2004 when my family and I went to Disney World. They had a problem in Hartford and it took them almost an hour plus to fix the issue. It was harrowing and almost caused our flight to be canceled.

Hope they get you off the ground!

  2. I remember waiting an hour on the ground once on a Delta flight and having the pilot come on the PA to tell us “Sorry about the delay folks. But believe me, you’d rather be down here wishing you were up there, then up there wishing you were down here.” That always stuck with me.
