My Guilt Over Sleaze

The guilt has nothing to do with people knowing what I’m reading because until now no one knew but me. I’ve never told anyone before.

If it’s news I read it.

I read a lot.

World news, national news, financial, politics, tech, sports–I read them all. I also read lighter stuff.

I can’t tell you why, but I feel guilty when I’m drawn to and then read snippy celeb and pop culture stories.

The guilt has nothing to do with people knowing what I’m reading because until now no one knew but me. I’ve never told anyone before.

Typically the stories have headlines like these actual articles I read today!

  • John Edwards Would Prefer You Don’t See His Sex Tape Deposition
  • Paris Hilton sued for $35M for wearing wrong hair…
  • Rihanna Tattoo Typo.. Kelsey Gal Preg.. New Baby.. Jenner On Bikini Pics.. Heigl Leaves (Huffington groups them for extra page views)
  • I am a Hooters girl. AMA (AMA stands for “ask me anything”)

By the way, Rihanna’s misspelled tattoo was in Sanskrit! Paris couldn’t make an appearance because she was in jail. The Hooters girl commiserates that blue cheese dressing and celery don’t come free with wings (Seriously Hooters? No celery? Why would anyone ever g… Oh, never mind).

It’s like slowing down when you drive by an accident. Involuntary!

I’m not going to stop reading this garbage. The sleaze isn’t going to stand in the way of weighter stories. I just can’t figure out why it’s making me feel guilt?

The mind works in such strange ways.
