Eagles: Seriously? I Mean Are You Kidding?

The Eagles were about to lose. Actually that’s not the way it turned out.

We are Eagles fans. We watch the Eagles games. It’s what we do. We watch the games from start-to-finish even when the outcome is no longer in doubt. That was the case today. The Eagles were about to lose.

Actually that’s not the way it turned out.

With eight minutes left the Eagles were down 21 points. It was ugly. They played poorly.

They thought poorly too. Coach Andy Reid didn’t throw the flag to have an Eagles fumble reviewed. The turnover more-than-likely would have been reversed to the Eagles favor. Instead the Giants went on to score.

One football website ran a headline summing things up:

Anyway… fast forward to that last eight minutes. The Eagles scored. They perfectly executed an onside kick. They scored again… and again.

With time running out and the score tied the Giants had the ball. Any points would mean a win, but they couldn’t get a first down. They were forced to punt with just fourteen seconds left.

“Even if the Giants win,” I said to Helaine, “it was a great comeback. They didn’t give up. And if the Eagles win it’s a game for the ages!”

Is it ever! DeSean Jackson ran a foolishly placed line drive punt for a 65 yard touchdown as the clock ran out.

My Giants fan friends are not pleased. The Fox family is amazed.

We’ll take it.
