The Agent

Damn. I hate when that happens. I looked and pondered, but just couldn’t remember her.

This afternoon I went to see an agent who specializes in commercials, acting and corporate videos. It seems like something I’d like to try when my contract expires. After all it uses much of the same skill set I’ve been depending on.

“Nice to see you again,” she said as I sat down.

Damn. I hate when that happens. I looked and pondered, but just couldn’t remember her.

As it turns out that meeting was over twenty years ago. I hope I’m allowed to be forgetful. Debbie was an actor. She was part of a series of shows done for ABC at Channel 8. The wall pictured above was painted for her show and only recently covered.

Here’s how this works. I have to get Debbie samples of my work (much like what’s on my audition website) which she’ll then submit to potential employers.

I’ll let you know what happens.

We could all say that and I’m certain you wouldn’t be able to recall many of us, lol. Whether 20 years ago, or yesterday, you are so much in the public eye that any one of us or all of us could say that to you.

In the meantime, I hope something comes of this meeting. It seems incredible to think that you’ll soon join the rolls of Connecticut’s unemployed. However, you’re in good company. Seems as if the number of unemployed continues to climb. Didn’t President Obama just say that they’ve added 100,000 jobs in this country? He hasn’t been to Connecticut. We’re still in the process of layoffs, including teachers and police officers. As I said, you’re in good company. No one is safe these days. And that is very sad.

    Good luck Geoff.

  2. If they need audience references, I can think of a few thousand you could submit …
Best of luck – we’ll keep all available digits crossed!

  3. Dear Geoff, cannot believe that channel 8 let you go. Shame on
them they don’t know what their doing. You always lighten the
weather. Guess I will switch to Channel 6 or 3. Good luck to you.
    Keep us posted.

  4. You’ve got the perfect voice for corporate voice overs. I used to do those films in another lifetime; those guys always had work and made their own schedule.

    Good Luck!
