During my 26 years in Connecticut I’ve done a few things beyond weather at Channel 8. Though some folks remember me on Good Morning America, I also hosted four seasons of Inside Space on the SciFi Channel.
SciFi was a thinly watched network back then. I suspected we had more viewers for WTNH than Inside Space and Inside Space was seen worldwide!
After a while management caught on that we were SciFa not SciFi and we were cancelled. The good news is under the supervision of Executive Producer Dave Brody we put out a lot of very good stuff.
This is one of my favorite segments, one of the few taped in Connecticut. We went to Hamilton Standard (now Hamilton Sundstrand) where they made spacesuits.
I got to try one on!
A fascinating look at the spacesuit – loved the report, Geoff!
I was getting claustophobic just watching that, but it was fascinating.
My 5 year old daughter insisted on seeing this and wanted to watch it again. Great segment. Thanks!
lol Cool Russian Accent
I remember Inside Space very well and never missed an episode. I wish they would either re-show some of the episodes on SyFy or at least give them to the NASA Channel and let them air them. I hope you get another show something like that Geoff.
Now, That was interesting.
Wow, I remember that!! I took a 3-year sabbatical to NJ from CT while that show was on the air, and I found it channel-surfing one Saturday afternoon. “Hey, that’s Geoff Fox from Channel 8!!” I tuned in as often as I could in the pre-TiVo era. You did a really great job on that show.
I loved this segment Geoff and am alittle jealous that you got to try on the space suit before me…ha, ha! I’m a huge sci-fi fan. I wish I had known when this show was on.
Loved the “accent” :DDD
Always seemed to me that this was closer to your metier than “just the weather”. Given that you’re not a 20-something female buxom hair flipper (not any more, anyway), this seems a better venue for the gravitas of experience.
I vividly remember this, Geoff, and I was so jealous…still am, actually. 🙂 I thought Inside Space was awesome. Is there any where to view these segments?

Geoff, what is the difference between SciFa and SciFi?
After a while management caught on that we were SciFa not SciFi.
Thanks, Gail
SciFact as oppose to SciFiction.
So who WAS the first to wear the spaesuit?
Exactly. Who, Geoff?
Fascinating stuff, Geoff! When was this segment produced?
That intro title sequence was making me nauseous!
