Oops: Google Voice Transcription

Unfortunately Google Voice’s automated transcriptions are consistently dicey. Case in point is a message I just received.

I use Google Voice as my voicemail provider. It’s free and works pretty well. I get a transcription of each incoming message, often easier than listening to the voicemail itself.

What was said: I miss you as a weatherman

What was transcribed: I miss you as a lesbian

The technology still leaves a little to be desired.

  1. Its also nice GVoice archives the message as a sound file in the cloud. And if you want to forward the message to someone else its as simple as FWDing an e-mail.

The iPhones VMails save as an AMR file and to save or send that it requires you to FTP into the phone.
