I use Google Voice as my voicemail provider. It’s free and works pretty well. I get a transcription of each incoming message, often easier than listening to the voicemail itself.
Unfortunately Google Voice’s automated transcriptions are consistently dicey. Case in point is a message I just received.
What was said: I miss you as a weatherman
What was transcribed: I miss you as a lesbian
The technology still leaves a little to be desired.
LOL – yup – voice technology still needs some tweaking…
LOL! I have Vonage and it does the same thing! It’s so entertaining
Its also nice GVoice archives the message as a sound file in the cloud. And if you want to forward the message to someone else its as simple as FWDing an e-mail.
The iPhones VMails save as an AMR file and to save or send that it requires you to FTP into the phone.
Sounds sort of like the handwriting recognition on the Apple Newton. Remember those?
And I own a transcription company – LOL Thank Goodness it wasnt mine!
I miss you as a lesbian too! Just not the same without u Geoff!!
Oh it was my pleasure to vote in both locations for you
LOL!! How do I miss you…let me count the ways… 🙂
LMAO!! Too damned funny!

Miss you Geoff like reading your updates.I laughed when I read the tux story.
Well, I guess you couldn’t tell that tale on camera.
