They Call Me The Spokesman

It’s an interesting call because I understand their reputation and mine now become intertwined.

I did something new for me yesterday. I taped a commercial. I have become the spokesman for a car dealership on the shoreline. They’re making the official announcement Monday so I’ll wait until then to say who it is.

This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. It’s only become possible since I’ve come to FoxCT. This is not my first chance to do a local ad. It’s just the first one where I said yes.

This whole process has demanded a great deal of thought. I understand the dealership’s reputation and mine now become intertwined. That’s a big deal to me.

I sat down and met with the dealership’s owner and ad agency to make sure we were on the same page and had the same sensibilities. They were surely vetting me as well.

Helaine scouted Yelp looking for customer reviews. Nearly everyone was happy with their choice. Some bordered on ecstatic.

We have friends who bought a car from this dealership. They were in the ecstatic group.

The car line itself is considered very reliable and aggressively priced. It’s a good value.

The cars I’ll be talking about are all wheel drive. I’m the guy at work on snow days telling you not to go to work! AWD is critical for me.

How many cars come with their own weatherman?

  1. I had one of those Subaru XTs and then an XT-6. LOVED THEM!!!

When I sold my XT-6 to someone who could restore her to her former glory, I bought a ’96 Subaru Legacy wagon, a car that my Subaru-only mechanic recommended.

    GREAT cars!

    Just sayin’…

  2. Subarus are great cars.
To me, that blur looks like almost anything post 2002. :-/
It is a big risk to pair your reputation with a car dealership’s!
Hey, Mike Rowe makes a pretty penny endorsing Fords.
Best of luck in the new association!

  3. Hey Geoff –
Can’t wait to hear who it is. I’m going to be in the market this year fir a new AWD vehicle.
    We’ll see…
    Good going, Congrats!!

  4. That looks like a Subaru Impreza…I drive a Subaru Forester…great car! 🙂 Just please stay away from those reality-type mortgage commercials your long-ago former co-worker did. Those commercials were not only awful, but somewhat misleading. I turned them off every time. Good luck!

    1. Laura –

Here’s the operative line: “I understand the dealership’s reputation and mine now become intertwined.” That’s why I have been careful in choosing.

  5. Geoff – all I can say is if you met with Bob Alvine and Premier Subaru, you made a terrific decision. Bob is the finest owner I’ve met, he cares about his customers and cars like no one else.

  6. Well, let’s see now. Hoffman Auto Group is a sponsor of FoxCT Weather and sells Lexus, Audi, Porshe, Saab, Smart, Toyota, Sicon, Honda, Nissan and Ford. Hoffman also has a link on the home page to “find us on Yelp”.

    Am I getting warm Geoff?

  7. I hate to disagree, but if it’s the above-named dealership I hope it turns out okay. They have the highest-pressure sales practices I’ve encountered in years – I went there just to look once and got weekly letters, phone calls 3 or 4 times a week, and constant harassment for months until I told them I would never under any circumstances buy a car from them but would contact the BBB if they didn’t leave me alone. Too bad – the cars are great.

  8. It looks like a Subaru to me – we are on our 4th one – We LOVE them and not sure who you are representing, but I hope it is Premiere in Branford – they are all WONDERFUL from the sales to service department!

  9. When I heard you were going to represent a dealership, I hoped it would be Premier because their stellar reputation and yours would go together well. And the photo does look liked a blurred Impreza. So I, too, hope it’s Premier in Branford. We’re also a Subaru family and our last one was bought at Premier (and we’re from Marlborough so we travelled a ways to buy it).

  10. glad to see the big change in your life has turned to a change for the better!

P.S. replace that Benz with an STI!

  11. Hmmmm…..I just checked Premier’s website as I checked here 1st and didn’t see who it is that you’re going to be the spokesperson for. It says they are announcing a new spokesperson, Monday, May 2!!!! Yay! Glad you’re going there, Geoff. It seems like a great fit. Congrats!

    1. Out of respect for what has transpired over the last 24 hours the announcement has been held for a day. We all think this is a good time for our nation to reflect. Commerce can wait until tomorrow.

      1. I was wondering why it wasn’t posted. Makes sense and again shows what an upstanding company Premier Subaru is. I did just see the website intro and it is excellent!
