My Opinion Of The Donald Remains Unchanged

Donald, how could you? How could you treat the United States of America as if it was some sleazy reality show? How could you disrespect us like that?

I’m not a Trump liker. If you’d like I’ll list my reasons. I’ve done that before. To me he is an empty suit–no substance.

I was incensed when he decided to run for president, but decided to avoid commenting until he inevitably dropped out. That happened this afternoon.

Donald, how could you? How could you treat the United States of America as if it was some sleazy reality show? How could you disrespect us like that?

The letters USA mean something. Trump not so much.

Over the last few years, according to interviews and hundreds of pages of court documents, the real estate mogul has aggressively marketed several luxury high-rises as “Trump properties” or “signature Trump” buildings, with names like Trump Tower and Trump International — even making appearances at the properties to woo buyers. The strong indication of his involvement as a developer generated waves of media attention and commanded premium prices.

But when three of the planned buildings encountered financial trouble, it became clear that Mr. Trump had essentially rented his name to the developments and had no responsibility for their outcomes, according to buyers. NY Times

No one expected Trump to really run for president yet he played us just like Robert Kraft did when he teased Connecticut with the Patriots. I didn’t believe that one either.

Meanwhile Trump took potshots at the president and cheapened the political discourse. He feigned worry over the president’s birthplace.

“I have people that actually have been studying it and they cannot believe what they’re finding,” Trump told NBC’s “Today” show – FoxNews.com

Then he worried some more.

In yet another round of TV interviews, the suddenly omnipresent Donald Trump offered to release his tax returns—President Barack Obama released his on Monday—if Mr. Obama first offers up a copy of his birth certificate.

“ I may tie my tax returns into Obama’s birth certificate,” Mr. Trump said on ABC’s “Good Morning America”.

It’s all BS, right? There were no investigators. There will be no tax return revelation. Trump thought we were saps and treated us accordingly.

My opinion of The Donald remains unchanged.

  1. I think of all the hours and hours of valuable political discourse that were lost and crucial policy discussions never had by pundits discussing Trump instead (and the young cynics created by this cheap ruse). Maybe the only lesson learned, as I said to my daughter: take a very careful look at everyone from watercooler to TV screen that believed his lies and their hype and see them ALL in a new light.
It also might help some Trumpers to scan the news and see what they missed.

  2. All hat and no cattle I believe is a proper term for him. Nobody with any brains actually thought he’d release ’em. If people found out how little he’s worth right now, they wouldn’t do business with him. He has trouble on both sides of the aisle. He’s given a lot of cash to the Dems.

  3. Well put – I was disgusted with the fact that no one challenged him to reveal the so-called ‘incredible revelations’ his so-called investigators had uncovered after the birth certificate was revealed to be exactly what we all knew it was. No one called him on any of it – just reported how proud he was of himself. His lack of respect for the country and the political process is not a surprise, but it’s still pathetic.

  4. Well said Geoff. It was a farce from the very beginning and I refused to watch any of it. You summed it all up nicely.

  5. Paraphrasing Jim M, all hair & no cattle. However, back in the mid 70’s-early 80s, I had to give the creep some credit-when he got so many Senior Citizens to ride his bus, get a roll of quarters and spend their social security $$$ at his cheesy casinos. Totally beat the system but still can’t keep a buck. Sadly the old ladies bought into it-“I deserve some fun”. Yah but why give your monies to the Donald? But they didn’t see it as such.

  6. Hopefully soon,TRUMP will go bankrupt,AGAIN! THEN, we will see his true colors! His lawyers probably advised him, to give up this obvious charade, for the good of his “OTHER” businesses. His show, “THE APPRENTICE”, is awful, reality (?) television, at its worst!!

  7. Why couldn’t Obama just release his birth cert (a constitutional requirement for the president). That Trump provoked him into releasing that needed document was a plus. Indeed some states (ala AZ) had active initiatives to require a birth cert to run for president. Obama is just not challenged by the mass media.

I might add that as a senator Obama voted against raising the debt limit, now he is chastising the republicans for doing the same thing. That seems to be as phony as Trump – one of MANY Obama issues rarely cited (criticized) by the media.

Geoff – I agree far more with your weather forecasts, than your politics (although I did not want Trump to run either).

  8. Trump only cares about one thing – himself. That there were those who would have given serious consideration to his possible run for the Presidency is sad.

  9. You have said what so many others have thought. This guy lives in his reality show world and should stay there. He is as real as his comeover of his bald spot.

  10. I guess if Sarah Palin could run so could Mr. Trump, not that I’m fond of either one. Politics is a mix of theatrics, showmanship, and who can BS the best. Talk is cheap, and it’s hard to really understand the true record of any political candidate because you don’t know what news articles to believe any more. I’m a working stiff that’s tired of all the BS and not just from Mr. Trump.

  11. The rant against the President was totally tasteless and not classy. Regardless of whether or not you like his politics, the office needs to be respected. Trump really sounded ghetto when he went on and on about Obama.

  12. The Donald cannot except criticism (serious or in fun) in any way, shape or form. There was never any doubt in my mind he would drop out. The heat in the kitchen had only just started….
