Truth In Advertising: Fail

However (you knew this was coming) there’s a series of ads for an upcoming appearance that’s got me upset/confused.

We’ve been staying at the Mirage. It’s not the newest hotel in Las Vegas, but it’s beautifully maintained and still has a first class feel. We’ve eaten in the restaurants, seen a show and gambled a little. We could not be happier.

However (you knew this was coming) there’s a series of ads for an upcoming appearance that’s got me upset/confused.

Mirage is promoting the “Aces of Comedy.” Jay Leno will be there and solely by virtue of The Tonight Show he qualifies. The second “Ace” is Larry King.

Seriously? Larry King? Ace of Comedy?

Maybe the never watched Larry? Actually, it’s more likely they’ve put him in this category because they have! Sad.

  1. After reading your permanent record, I’m glad I’m not the only one who is confused when I first read Larry King was an “Ace” in comedy. I’d read early last week about his “comedy tour”. I listened to Larry King overnight way back prior to he ever coming to CNN. I’m a fan of Larry King. I like him. But a comedian? Really?

  2. I think Larry King is to blame for this one. He decided to tour as a stand-up comedian after his show ended. Can’t picture it, but I’m sure there’s someone who will pay to see him tell jokes.

  3. I suspected I’ve lost my sense of humor. I’ve watched Jay Leno, Letterman, Conan and the other so called comedians. I get no chuckles even…nutin. I just sit there wondering why everyone is laughing. Are they funny and I don’t get it? I understand what they are saying but,….it’s not funny. I musta missed something along the way.

    1. I agree with Robert… The so-called comedians on late night TV leave me cold… I used to end my day with their clever witty comedy, but no longer find any of it amusing… maybe I’m just getting old?
      lol
