What a dork. I was just out in the garden in a suit, tie and dress shoes! Obviously I have a screw loose because as long as I was there I pulled some weeds!
No matter what you do weeds are the crop that thrives most. They are drought resistant, mold resistant, pest resistant. They’ll grow through concrete given half the chance.
Hopefully my lettuce hangs around until Thursday, because it’s ready for picking. Everything else is still coming up and looking healthy.
The tomato plants are getting taller and starting to set fruit.
Geez – that last sentence reads like a parent talking about a child.
I’m thrilled. So far so good. It’s doing all it’s supposed to do and making me smile every time I get my hands dirty in that horse manure infused soil.
Wonderful to see, Geoff! We are finally coaxing some perennials to grow in my mother-in-law’s garden. Continued success with the garden!
Love, love love Geoff’s garden!
Next time, consider some mulching even with newspaper shreds to prevent all the weeds from crowding the soil. It may not be too late for that. Will come in handy during a heat wave.
I pulled some weed!
Really, Geoff? Don’t worry I won’t tell! LoL
Chris is noting I originally wrote: “I pulled some weed” instead of “weeds.” Oops.
I laughed at the same thing. Good thing you edited!
Love your garden Geoff…I have a small garden too…..a place to go for mental awareness…peace….even if it is pulling weeds….relaxing place !!
Geoff, you’re in good company. I pulled weeds and watered a few plants tonight in a dress and heels.
Looks like it has done really well with all the rain we had… very cool.
Very cool. The garden is looking awesome.
Even though I created trenches and we have a gentle slope here, I still found some damage to the bottom leaves of the tomato plants (Roma Plum). But they’re setting fruit and it looks healthy, so I removed the yellowed leaves and am hoping for the best. I count on these to cook up and freeze for salt-free sauce through the winter, so I hope they make it. Several of the later-blooming flowers are blooming early, so it should be an interesting growing season. I can’t resist pulling weeds when I spot them, either..it’s a compulsion! LOL. Your garden is a lot neater-looking than mine and I hope it does well..
