My Drive To Work (video)

I drive to work driving behind Sleeping Giant State Park. Maybe it’s not the prettiest place in the world, but it’s on the list.

I grew up in Apartment 5E. I’ve said more than once, but it wasn’t until I was in my twenties that I actually saw grass that didn’t come in a baggie! Being in the ‘burbs is a crazy departure for me.

This week marks 21 years of our living in the Mt. Carmel section of Hamden. It’s not only the first house I’ve owned, it’s the first house I’ve ever lived in!

I drive down a road canopied by mature hardwood trees. Off to my right are open fields. There are a few horse stables. It’s pretty idyllic and nothing like what I was used to growing up.

  1. I didn’t know you had a YouTube channel. I subscribed. PLEASE return the favor. My Youtube is YourNever2Old. Thanks Geoff. I look forward to your videos as they are usually entertaining….. kinda like Bill Nye the science guy …. lol

  2. One of the things I miss about living in CT is the drives through the little towns in the northeast corner of the state. Your video brought back some fond memories of those days (and the bumpy little backroads!) and I thank you.

  3. I have been driving from Hamden up Rte 63, to Rte 67, to Rte 8 to Waterbury and back again, for the last 17 years and every day it takes my breath away. Same is true if I just stay on Rte 63 all the way.
How about driving on Waite Street from Whitney to Mather — reservoir on both sides and swans, if you are lucky! CT really is beautiful.

  4. I love the Sleeping Giant area and have fond memories of hiking there and going to college at QU. I drive down New Road to work every morning. The view of sleeping Giant from the bridge there is awsome. That rock is my center.

  5. Lovely, Geoff, but who was holding the camera? LOL. I’ve done this while riding my tricycle, holding the camera as I go along. Living in the area near Farmington and Burlington, it’s beautiful here, too….even some cows up the road. Enjoy the ride as much as you can…

  6. Better be on the watch for Radar traps, next time you do that trip. You probably weren’t going that fast, but the camera angle sure made it feel so.
My husband used to commute to No. Canaan 3 0r 4 times a week–taking Rte 63 to Rte 7(from Middlebury/Naugatuck area. He used to say, the first couple of weeks the scenery was beautiful, then it down graded to nice, then to OK , and finally –It’s an awful long way to the office! 40 miles one way. He did it for 8 yrs. But honestly, we do have beautiful back roads in CT. Just taking a Sunday drive isn’t that relaxing, anymore.
