The New Camera Shoots Video

If I’m going to shoot video I’ll need all sorts of new skills. I’ll also need to carry a tripod because HD video exaggerates and camera shakiness!

Last Tuesday Birthday Man showed up with a new camera, a Canon 7D. How did he know? It’s just the right size and color.

The 7D is larger and heavier than my 450D with a quieter sensor and the ability to see better in low light situations. It also shoots video.

If I’m going to shoot video I’ll need all sorts of new skills. I’ll also need to carry a tripod because HD video exaggerates and camera shakiness!

This being the perfect summer day I thought I’d try it out with a little video in my favorite spot–Jepps Brook.

Note: The original video was pulled and replaced by this version with a better soundtrack.

  1. Geoff, it’s awesome. Except that gurgling water business. I’m old. I just drank an iced cold beer….now it’s off to the small room down the hall on the left as I dance my way there… (was that shot with a tripod?) Evi

  2. They sell shotgun mics that mount via the flash shoe that are supposed to work wonders with dslr audio. I am renting one next weekend to try out. Good luck have fun with the new cam

  3. Very nice! I love a nice quiet brook. I like the bugs flying close to the lens too. Wasn’t fond of the drums as the background music. Didn’t match the picture, Not too soothing.

  4. I know every time i get a new camera i head for the woods too. something about nature that pulls me. kinda reminds me of another program on sunday morning that does a closing shot of some nature thing. very nice.
