Too Good To Be True

When we get weather like this I’m often asked if we’ll have to pay for it later?

That’s a map of mid-afternoon temperatures today at the top of this entry. Crazy! We’re ten days into October. It shouldn’t usually doesn’t feel like summer this late in the season.

I am not complaining.

Here’s Weatherspark’s analysis of a typical October 10 in Hartford.

The temperature typically varies from 49°F to 64°F and is rarely below 38°F or above 74°F. The coolest hours of the day are from 2am to 9am with the coldest at 7am, at which time the temperature is below 55°F three days out of four. The warmest hours of the day are from noon to 6pm with the hottest at 4pm, at which time the temperature is above 58°F three days out of four. The day has gained half its heat by 11am and lost it again by 9pm.

It doesn’t look like it’s describing today, does it?

When we get weather like this I’m often asked if we’ll have to pay for it later? There’s nothing I’ve ever seen that points in that direction. Feel free to enjoy without guilt.

Meanwhile don’t get used to it. Wednesday’s high will be around 20&#176 cooler than today… with rain.

  1. That’s the one part I dislike about this time of year… the see-saw of temps in a single 24hour period. Should I wear pants? Should I wear shorts? T-shirt or sweat shirt? Oy.

  2. I remember one Halloween night, over 10 years ago, my children did not need to wear jackets over their costumes while trick or treating. My oldest son just wore a thin undershirt with fake blood
