Three Stooges Movie Trailer Released — Coitanly!

I want it to be good. I want to be compelled to go. I am prepared to be disappointed.

I’m not exactly sure how to take this. It’s the trailer for the upcoming Three Stooges movie. Most everything seems as it was except the Stooges have been thrust into the 21st Century. That by itself is unnerving. The pace of the mayhem is faster/tighter too.

It was originally scheduled with a big name cast. No more: Sean Hayes, Will Sasso and Chris Diamantopoulos. I know one of those names.

I want it to be good. I want to be compelled to go. I am prepared to be disappointed.

It doesn’t open until next spring. I will reserve judgment.

  1. I was thinking the same thing. some classics should be left alone. This looks like one of those items, that should not happen.

  2. Nah, do it, do it with great joy!—“the boys” would love the attention…

You could have said the same thing about Belushi’s remake of “Dragnet”. Funny, but with deep respect…

  3. Torn. Grew up with “the boys” and never really accepted Shemp, or Joe. Now, many years later, I’m faced with the same decisions as you. I want them to succeed, but I’m not sure if the world is ready for Moe, Larry and Curly’s return. Hollywood had run out of ideas. Lets face it. The last “fresh” idea that I can remember is the Indiana Jones series, and Star Wars series. Kinda ran out of ideas after that. Maybe they should hold auditions for writers out there, just like the “search for talent” shows that are boring us on the tube. It just might work.

  4. Like the horrible Pink Panther remakes I expect it to fail miserably. Leave well enough alone. Come up with fresh ideas for a change.

  5. I always liked slapstick, and nobody else in the family does. The original stooges were masters of the slap routine. I laughed a bit at the trailor so with fingers crossed I’ll go see the movie. Probably by myself, sigh.

  6. I agree with most that you just can’t do it again. It’s something that should be left alone. I had heard there was a Laurel and Hardy remake in the works too. I just can’t see it being successful. When you take a style of comedy that was so good in it’s time and try to bring it up to today’s style of comedy I won’t go see it. There was a kind of innocence in the past stars and their work that won’t be carried over into the present.
