Valentine’s Day

I wish I was more romantic. I wish I was one of those guys who knew how to go out and get the right gift. I’m not. I don’t. It’s a skillset I sorely lack.

I wish I was more romantic. I wish I was one of those guys who knew how to go out and get the right gift. I’m not. I don’t. It’s a skillset I sorely lack.

On this Valentine’s Day Helaine and I (and Doppler) exchanged cards. The secret is finding a card someone else wrote that conveys a secret you share.

The past few days Helaine had been hinting about a special Valentine breakfast. This morning it arrived as freshly made Belgian Waffles with warm syrup and mascerated strawberries.

I’m not sure how Valentine’s Day could have started on a better note.

  1. Geoff, you sound just like my husband; he would give me the world if he could, but don’t ask him to buy the perfect gift or plan something romantic. I’ll be honest – it used to bother me a LOT, but after 30+ years of marriage, that is of such little importance, it’s not even on my radar screen. We are soulmates for life – who can ask for more than that! Happy Valentine’s Day to you and Helaine!

  2. there you go geoff . understateing your self . you did great . considering you work nights , breakfast is the alternative .mine wanted a box of chocolate nuts , she got them. its not the gift , its the thought . you remembered .after one has been married as long as us og’s ,we get a good feeling for what our wives like . i didnt notice any pics posted by you of the inside walls of the dog house (though i have noticed doppler is pretty spoiled)maybe dog houses aren’t a threat at the fox residence .lol hop you and your honey shared a special moment . after all these years thats about what it amounts to on valentines day

  3. The husband of one of my coworkers always sends a singing quartet to serenade her during our morning meeting. They bring a card and a red rose from him. We are always quite envious that he would do that for her!

  4. You are looking at one day? Geoff, Geoff, Geoff. You do so many, many other things right! First and foremost being you married Helaine. Breakfast sounded divine. My Ed brought home a card, M&M’s and some lovely lillies with a ballon. It was the right thing to do. I don’t need jewelry!

  5. We went shopping together on Sunday…he picked out new shoes…I got perfume…both on sale, just what we wanted…Cards and some chocolate on Monday…after 33+ yrs it works for us…..

  6. I’ve only been married for 7 years but my wife and I really don’t do anything on Valentine’s Day anymore. We just say Happy Valentine’s Day to each other. We got the kids some candy though. Just what they needed right? haha
