Photography And An Aching Back

This weekend called out for photography. Where to go? Friday night I researched the East River in Brooklyn for Manhattan overlooks.

Saturday I remained glued to the couch.

Saturday night I began thinking about a drive to the Connecticut River. I’ve done so little shooting there. There are birds, aren’t there?

You know where this is going.

Saturday night I began thinking about a drive to the Connecticut River. I’ve done so little shooting there. There are birds, aren’t there?

You know where this is going.

By the time I was ready to get off the couch it was 5:00 PM Sunday. Luckily I’ve got my own private brook across the street in the woods. That’s where I headed.

Jepps Brook is just a few hundred feet from here. That makes it sound closer than it is. Because the brook is small and overflows its banks in a heavy rain there’s lots of moss, precariously place rocks and slippery ground.

I brought a bag with a few lenses, my intervalometer and a tripod. My first shots were destined to be processed HDR. Click, click, click.

As I was bending over the tripod doing absolutely nothing but looking I felt my back go out of whack. Even if I wouldn’t have felt it I surely would have heard the blood curdling scream I let out.

End of photo session!

Yes, it’s that green!

  1. Geoff, these pictures are just beautiful, very calming.
Sorry about the back, going through it myself, disc sitting on a nerve, numbness in legs and feet.. I agree with Mark, mine has been a big help.
