How Does My Garden Grow?

I grew up in an apartment. I was already 18 by the time I first saw grass that wasn’t in a baggie .

There are some weeds coming up. Those need to be plucked. My garden is made-for-TV so that will have to wait for tomorrow when the camera is rolling. The same goes for cutting ‘suckers’ off my tomato plants.

“Wow!” It was Helaine on the phone. She was commenting on a photo I’d just sent from my cellphone. It’s my garden here at work.

They pay me to grow veggies at work. I’m a professional farmer? Where are my crop subsidies, please?

Helaine was impressed and I am too. Green thumbs do not run in the Fox family!

In the meantime I’m blown away. If I can do this anyone can!

  1. Impressive Geoff!! I love to garden, hate the slugs….LOL I usually have to put out a saucer of beer to get rid of them.

  2. I miss all the beautiful Hardy Geraniums I collected and how I propagated roses and they bloomed, and my herbs, and trellises with Clematis and climbing roses. I loved the tuberous begonias hanging on my shady porch. I had some antique plants and shrubs, such as Mock Orange, and huge Mountain Laurels. I am in a condo now and the house sold. So sad.

  3. I am really good at growing weeds. I never had a garden. I’m impressed with your garden. Maybe I’ll try again.

  4. My best tomatoes I started from seed and planted along the sunny side of my house and that side was on my avid gardener neighbor’s side. They were Carmello tomatoes from Shepherd’s Seeds, and now I think you get them from White Flower Farm. Gorgeous tomatoes that year, the plants were so healthy and my neighbor’s granddaughter came over to my yard to talk. I was so amused by this ten year old’s comment, “I think you are growing tomatoes.” haha. That was when I lived on Walnut Hill Park in New Britain.
