It’s A Long Way To Seattle

We’re most of the way to Seattle. I’m sitting on the floor at Gate C25 at McCarran in Las Vegas. On the floor because the only outlet I can find is under a brass plate in the carpet.

Just off to the right of me are three Southwest pilots. It’s fraternity talk from guys wearing epaulets. I don’t think they actually know each other.

Eavesdropping is fun!

Eavesdropping is fun!

One just described his sleeping accommodations in town. It’s not like the other ‘crash pads’ where you have to listen to other guys snore. Not a confidence builder.

Helaine and I had dinner at an Italian place none of my Connecticut Italian friends would recognize. My lasagna came out of a steam tray, was covered with a watery tomato sauce and as dense as any food I’ve ever eaten!

The pilots left. That let me move a few feet. I’m in an actual chair.

We gained three hours chasing the Sun west. The desert sky is golden and the mountains that flank the western border of the Las Vegas Valley are just silhouettes.

Our next flight is scheduled to leave this gate at 9:00 PM PDT. Hopefully we’ll make our SeaTac Airport hotel by midnight.

We’ve got a busy day Saturday. Please hotel, be quiet.
