We’re Back In Seattle

We’re exploring Seattle this afternoon and seeing the Mariners at Safeco Field tonight before returning to Connecticut.

We may need a vacation to recuperate from our vacation!

“You can’t see anything.” Helaine’s first words this morning as she gazed at our fog enveloped ship. We’re back at the dock in Seattle. Don’t worry. The weatherman typing this says it will burn off.

Four suitcases are gone. We’re hoping they’re downstairs waiting for us to drag through Customs and Immigration. then a cab to our hotel (where our room will surely be hours from ready).

We spent yesterday evening at Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia. Spectacular… even when it began to rain. When the rain turned heavy some luster was lost. It was still worth it. I will post photos from Buchart tomorrow as we fly east.

Rain does have an upside. Take a look at the photo at the top of this entry.

Because our trip to Buchart Gardens took place during a very brief port call we decided to go with the cruise line’s excursion. It was more expensive, but guaranteed to be back before the ship left. In this case we felt guaranteed return was important enough to justify the cost.

The downside was our driver who felt he was God’s gift to commentary, but was actually a bore who enjoyed hearing himself talk. I’m not sure I can pass such a test, but you’re not locked in a bus with me.

  1. I’ve always believed you should only go back to work a half day for every day you’ve been on vacation. I know my brain doesn’t make it much past noon those first few days. When I did my 2 weeks in Alaska, it took a good week before I did more work than talking about/showing pictures of the trip. Actually, it just made me want to go back again – right now.

The picture is beautiful – what a perfect arc! I’ve enjoyed your pictures from Alaska. Safe trip home and I’m sure Doppler will give you the greeting well deserved of the ‘arctic explorer returned home’.

  2. As one of the very few M’s fan in ct, I would be envious but the M’s are bad. All you can hope for is a stellar Felix performance.

  3. Glad you had a nice vacation. I like to be home two days before i have to go to work. This way I can unwind and get back in the groove. I don’t have to worry about that anymore being retired. This year we go to Nova Scotia.
