As 2012 Comes To A Screeching Halt

Let me be perfectly honest, 2012 was not a good year for me in many ways. Must I explain? It can’t end soon enough.

On the other hand Helaine and I just spent a really great week at home with Stef who flew in from L.A. Therapeutic! I’m not sure Stef knows the power she possesses.

With the new year will come lots of choices on how to move forward. Plans are coming together, though still incomplete. I’ll let you know when I know.

Many of you have reached out, both publicly and privately, to offer your advice and support. I can’t tell you how helpful you’ve been and how much I appreciate you standing with me.

To all, have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2013.

  1. Whatever happened in the past, I hope everything works for you and your family in 2013, Geoff……Happy New Year to you and yours…..

  2. You have been a consistently devoted and enthusiastic weather source for as long as I can remember and I continue to look to your forecasting not just for the weather contents but for interjections of wit and humor along the way…you make the weather a true adventure. I believe that everything happens for a reason and that something good always comes out of something not so good…lean on your family and friends and the many folks out here, like me, who know with your talents and strengths that the next chapter for you will be even better than the ones before. Happy New Year to you, Helaine & “magical” Stef!

  3. Dear Mr. Fox,

You are my go-to weather guy.\ πŸ™‚ I’ve appreciated you being part of my evening routine for more years than I care to count and I miss your reporting!

Cherish today, look forward to the future, and let the past be the wise teacher it so often is for all of us. Peace to you & yours. Wishing you a very Happy New Year!

  4. Happy to hear you feel all the support behind you. Wishing you all the best, Geoff. And hoping to see you back on the air in the new year!!

  5. A very Happy New Year to you, Helaine, Steph and Doppler — God Bless all of you with the things you need and even a few of the things you would like! Take care.

will be back and all the best for 2013

  7. Happy New Year, Geoff and family. The past is the past for a reason…but the lessons learned are always valuable. Miss seeing you on air, but love still being able to get the weather from you here!
Best wishes, and may 2013 be the best year yet for us all!

  8. Best wishes for a great 2013. I am glad to see you back as I look forward to your posts. You are human like the rest of us and I know you have a good heart. Enjoy your family and your precious Doppler! The future is yet to come and the past is past.

  9. Geoff, great weather man. I don’t agree with what you did. I hope you and Helene have a better year or years head of you. Happy New Year

  10. Yes, you sure have had your year, Geoff, for better or for worse. I have a feeling things are working out, and I’m so glad to see the weather forecasts again. You are family, and that’s why we get mad at you and then reach out an encouraging hand. All the best for 2013.

  11. Anybody who watched you over the years AND saw the Dr. Phil show will know you were set up. What a shame WTIC couldn’t see it. Here’s to a better 2013.

      1. I don’t understand…. Al T., just a lousy news reader – and that’s all they do, just read a screen built by others -busted by 3 AND 8 for alleged improprieties involving co-workers, gets hired by Silly Sixty-One. Then 61 decides to impose discipline??? I’m not watching that station any more, unless they rectify their errors…

  12. Happy New Year to you and your family!
So glad that your blog is back.
Hope 2013 brings you renewal and peace in your life.
    We miss seeing you!

As a friend of mine so correctly put it tonight, there’s no way to go but up.

  15. Well Geoff, that’s life for you, you never really know do you. I trust you will do what’s best for you and your family and wish you health and prosperity in the new year.

  16. Thanks Geoff, I wish a great 2013 for you and your family, including Dopler. I know she is a big part of life, as all our pets are.

  17. hang in there Geoff. we all make mistakes it your fans are all behind you. I can’t wait to see you backing the air. in the mean time take care of your family.

  19. It’s a beautiful night and is a night to celebrate and welcome the New Year, anything that happened in 2012 stay in 2012 as the past. The New Year will bring very good things for you and your family. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  20. 2012 personally really sucked and I am glad it’s over…I am grateful to be alive and have a roof over my head, but it can’t go anywhere but up now! I wish the same for you and your family Geoff….Happy New year!

  21. Even though it was not the way, the musical group Semisonic said it best in their song “Closing Time”:

“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end”

All the best to you and your family, Geoff. Salud!

  22. I just know 2013 will be a good year for you and your family, and therefore a bit better for all of us who care for you. Glad your dd came to visit…a very Happy New Year to you all.

  23. Geoff just do away now, Sure we all make mistakes but this one was a big one.
Ride off into the sunset and please leave us all alone.

Based on IP addresses “Mike” has been posting under a few different names – Geoff

    1. I don’t know you Mike but, as you can see you are in the minority on your thinking. We are all human and make mistakes. It takes somebody like Geoff who admitted his mistakes and is seeking forgiveness. I think everyone of us including you regret something we did in our past. We just are not in the public eye.

  24. Happy New Year to you and your family.
    Everything happens for a reason.
I’m sure better days are ahead for you.

  25. Dear Geoff, Helaine, Stef and Doppler, too: wishing you a Happy and Healthy New Year! After three surgeries and just last week having to have our beloved Tucker put to sleep, I too am anxious to end 2012 and get to 2013. You have all been in my thoughts as your year went along and hope that 2013 brings better days to you. I am glad that so many have supported you and pleased to know I could as well. Let us know when your new plans are figured out.
    Sincerely, Debi Tenner

    1. Debi… sorry to hear of the health woes and having to ease a pet’s pain (we lost 2 pets in 2012, but rescued THREE). Get better and if you haven’t done so yet, hope you rescue a nice pet… our 3 certainly appreciate it! πŸ™‚

  26. Geoff – I miss you a lot on TV but am so glad you’re blogging again. I was worried about you. I have noticed that 2012 was a cursed year for many people – just about everyone I came in contact with had troubles. I wish you and your family the best in 2013. I think it will be a year of change and growth. I hope. Blessings.

  27. geoff- we all have things in our past we want to forget. cherish the good cause there is far too much bad in the world. god bless you and your family. we miss seeing you on tv.

  28. It’s nice that all your viewers have stuck by your side, but the only ones that really matter are your family. Through all this, and hearing everyone state how hard it was for them to not be seeing you, all I could think of was how difficult this must be for Helaine and Stef. I hoped that there was good healing and trust rebuilding going on within your family walls. I sense that you have 2 incredible women in your life. An event such as you have gone through can rip you all apart or bring you closer together. I hope 2013 brings you the latter. It seems that you have a good chance it will. Happy New Year to all of you.

  29. Hey Geoff, I hope 2013 brings you back on to my television. Yes your weather forecasts were great but I really miss your tech segments. My favorite was about HDTV and using HDMI rather the component connectors.

  30. Geoff, thanks for the hopeful news. Wishing you and yours a blessed and better new year. The past is a good place to leave the past as long as we learn from it.

To Mike (above), Claudia is right you are in the minority. If you don’t wish to see Geoff’s blog, why are you reading it??? Much less taking the time to post on it!

  31. I understand that Mike has a right to his feelings but, he’s a little overboard with his comments. I think WTIC was a little to strict with a dismissal rather than a suspension for the actions. Possibly a warning about any further actions would be a dismissal. I believe we’ve all made some bad decisions and probably dodged the bullet. Unfortunately Geoff got the bad end of the deal. I hope we get to see you again in the future. Best to you and your family in 2013.

  32. I thought I had posted here, must not have gone through. Happy New Year, Geoff. Today was a cold, very sunny day in the Pacific Northwest. It was beautiful. Here’s to 2013!

  33. New year, new calendar, new day. I hope all goes well for you this year, and that we get to see more of you than the blog.
Any chance you’ll be on the radio more? It would be fun to have a QSO while you’re on sabbatical…

  35. I have truly discovered over my long life – that true gems often are found while sifting through the muck. Gold miner like.

Trite but true – when a door closes another opens. Often a better door.

Each soul is here on planet Earth to learn and grow. Each soul longs for love, acceptance and their path.

2012 had to happen so you could have 2013. :). I am certain, the best is yet to come!

  36. I have had that type of year too and 2013 could not have come soon enof.i had different problems them yours I`m sure.May both of us and everyone else have only happer days ahead.
