And Then There’s Scout

We’ve been staying at Michael, Melissa and Max’s here in Irvine. Their hospitality has been amazing. Still, I want to write about another family member today, Scout.

Scout is a Siberian Husky. He is a ‘premium’ sized dog. His eyes easily gaze across the dining room table. I don’t know what he weighs, but I’m sure I couldn’t pick him up.

In this two story home Scout stays downstairs. The hardwood staircase is just too scary.

Scout is a gentle giant.

A few days ago I walked Scout, as I walk Doppler. There is a difference!

As we walked Scout tugged hard at the leash. I picked up my pace and before long I looked down to notice Scout was galloping and I was gulping for air!

There’s also a difference in the size of the plastic bag you have to bring along. ‘Nuff said!

Among Scout’s most endearing qualities is a voice-like noise he makes. He moves his lips. It looks and sounds like he’s talking… and this can go on for a minute or two. It’s actually pretty cool.

We already knew Michael, Melissa and Max, but on this trip we really got to know Scout.

  1. Welcome to the world of REAL DOGS, Geoff — Doppler is a cutie & a sweetheart but my heart goes to the big dogs. Our Dobie Emma is a smiler — she literally smiles but it kind of is a little scary to see teeth smiling at you. Hard to stuff a Siberian or a Dobie under a plane seat though. I’m sure Doppler misses you both! Safe trip.

  2. There is a terrific halter to walk these types of dogs. I got one at CT Flower show. the website is walkyourdogwithlove.com.
It’s amazing! Not the usual type of halter.

  3. Siberian Huskies ARE AMAZING. Our big boy is named Cody and he is the sweetest dog around. We tell people his breed is a”huskalump” because he likes to lay around the house and sleep. 🙂

  4. I’m so glad you love dogs as you do. Its one of the many things I really like about you. Dogs are all wondeful, all sizes and colors. My breed of choice is a cocker spaniel, particulary my guy named Frankie, black with white trim, 8 years old now and still a puppy.
