I read a survey today. It says most Americans think torture is OK. I’m in the minority, again. It makes me sad.
By a margin of almost 2 to 1 — 59 percent to 31 percent — those interviewed said that they support the CIA’s brutal methods, with the vast majority of supporters saying that they produced valuable intelligence.
In general, 58 percent say the torture of suspected terrorists can be justified “often” or “sometimes.” – Washington Post
Everything I know and believe says torture is wrong, producing few results. Former POWs, like John McCain say it’s wrong. We have even signed agreements saying there are no circumstances under which we would use torture.
I watch Dick Cheney, General Hayden and the others on TV and get sick to my stomach. My enemies don’t influence my moral compass.

What has always (and always will be) the difference between “them” and “us”….is we respect human life. We know through history the poor, uneducated, and exploitable, can be convinced to do anything by their governments, leaders, or others. Is it right for us to further exploit these misguided people?
I’m with you and I’ve said so many times.
I always get a kick out of how the ‘right wing’ portrays itself as being so dyed in the wool devout christian yet has no problem violating the very tenets of the religion they profess missing such things as the commandments ‘Love thy neighbor as thyself’ (doesn’t say ‘Love thy Neighbor UNLESS he’s a pagan or a jew or a muslim or a terrorist or gay or whatever)and ‘thou shalt not kill’. All that stuff about peace and loving others and tolerance seems to go right out the window when it becomes inconvenient for someones agenda.
Torturing people is wrong, no matter how much you hate a person a people or anything. It doesn’t work it never did and I don’t know why anyone in this modern day thinks otherwise.
Then again…..people are prone to being stupid.
