Waiting For The Electrician (Or Someone Like Him)

Turning a garage into a studio isn’t a major job, but there are some changes we’ll need made. Lights and monitors need to be hung. A wall plate needs to be removed for the chroma key wall. A few outlets will be added.

Mike came by this morning. He’s an electrician. I need an estimate.

Turning a garage into a studio isn’t a major job, but there are some changes we’ll need made. Lights and monitors need to be hung. A wall plate needs to be removed for the chroma key wall. A few outlets will be added.

My first job was explaining why things needed to be done a certain way. The positioning of lights is an example. There will be two lights as close to the wall as possible, but pointing away from it. If you were just watching how the wall is used you might point them the other way.

Conduits are OK here. No need to open walls. It is, after all, a garage… trust me, studios aren’t places of beauty either.

I get the estimate tonight. If I say yes he’ll do it Tuesday.

  1. Geoff…

I’m down on the sunshine coast in Cocoa Beach, Florida (since Monday), temps have been in the mid 80’s and it sure doesn’t feel like early January. Otherwise – it seems the whole country other than Florida is cold – there was snow in/near Las Vegas, cold in the Midwest where Minnepolis was 1 F this morning, snow and cold in the inland Empire of California, they say LA will have lows near 32 F…etc. Will there be a frost in your neck of the woods?

I hope this all ends soon!
