Lindsey Graham Has Never Sent An Email?

Seriously? I’ve been sending email for nearly 30 years. How is it possible to live in the 21st Century without email?

More importantly, what does this say about what Senator Graham doesn’t understand about modern life?

Lindsey Graham I ve Never Sent an Email NBC News.com

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) was on Meet the Press this morning. When the topic got to Hillary Clinton’s private email server, Graham offered,

“I don’t email. No, you can have every email I’ve ever sent. I’ve never sent one.”

Seriously? I’ve been sending email for nearly 30 years. How is it possible to live in the 21st Century without email?

More importantly, what does this say about what Senator Graham doesn’t understand about modern life?

Back when I worked at WTNH all my email was sent through a server I controlled. No nefarious purpose. It was just more convenient. They had all my incoming mail, but nothing I sent (unless it came back in a reply) was in their possession.

I suspect that’s why Secretary Clinton did it, convenience. It allowed me to consolidate all my email accounts in one place.

But Hillary Clinton wasn’t a TV meteorologist. She had more of an obligation to officially archive her correspondence, whether it was a law/rule or not.

As sins go, hers is pretty minor.

Lindsey Graham’s admission isn’t a sin at all. But it’s definitely a head scratcher.

  1. Agreed. I don’t think Sen Graham is telling the truth. I find it extremely difficult to believe that anyone in any official government capacity does not have or use email.
When this story first came out my comment was ‘So what? She probably did it that way because it worked better and was more convenient to use.’ Knowing how inefficient the government is I wouldn’t be surprised that whatever passed for servers and email accounts was probably high tech 1995 and hadn’t been upgraded in ages. It probably has a number of servers only some of whom can actually communicate with eachother efficiently. I asked readers ‘Doesn’t EVERYONE have an email program or browser they prefer over another because it just works better?’
My computer came with Explorer. But I use Firefox now because Explorer is not only slow but often crashes or freezes up. I CAN use Explorer, but I don’t. No point. This was probably Hilary’s thought too. But of course there is a faction that will see a conspiracy in EVERYTHING, especially if it’s done by a non-Republican (and even some Republicans are considered suspect). I’m so sick of that crap.

  2. Graham serves on the Senate committe that governs technology including internet technology. Anyone see a problem with that?

  3. Just for balance, having your own server means it is a trivial matter to scrub all incoming and outgoing emails for your own purposes. There is no audit-able trail, no way to truly see -all- of the email traffic. No one will ever be able to know what really transpired there.

    Just sayin’…

    1. Yeah and since this story broke it has come to light that a lot of other congresspeople, cabinet members etc have also used email and servers NOT on the government grid. No one else seems to care. Why is she being held to a different standard than those other people (including some who have made noises about running for president)?
