I went to shoot a few seconds of video, but I couldn’t stop! At one point there were fifteen at the feeder with another handful hovering nearby. No one expects to get that many hummingbirds. It’s impossible to keep our two feeders loaded.
It’s not always this busy. This particular rush comes around dusk. Our family room lights act as a late day beacon.
They’re cool birds to have around. Non-destructive. If you stand still they’ll fly right next to you. I’m going to try hand feeding them soon.
Looks like you need a bigger feeder….
Our backyard is full of flowers right now, and the hummingpigs are having a ball…they alternate between feeding in the trees and shrubs, and trying to chase each other off the best flowers. With the number of trees and vines in our yoard right now, the feeders don’t need to be set out yet…
They like bigger than the ones here in CT. Are they actually bigger or is it just the camera angle? That is amazing! Getting ready to put our feeder out soon.
I never saw so many hb all at one time. I live in Wallyworld, maybe they like the west coast better…lol
It looks like a busy airport! Amazing!
Hi Geoff, what is your ratio of water and sugar? I only get one (Wallingford) and would love to get lots more!!
