When Guys Go Clothes Shopping

It’s been a long time since I went suit shopping. I went today with Helaine and my fashion consultant, Stef.

We skeptically went to one of the national men’s clothing chains that always seems to have a sale. Today it was buy one, get three free. I’m sure the sale is already built into the original price. It does seem too good to be true.

We walked in and saw Jesse. It’s always good if the person selling you clothes is himself dressed well. Jessie was in a dark blue pin stripe suit. He passed my test.

I have shopped with Stef before. We both have different shopping attitudes. She wants to see everything. I’m more try, buy, leave quickly.

As far as I can see the suits I bought are good quality. They’re 100% wool, but without a designer label. They’re probably made right alongside the more expensive threads.

Here’s what I learned: Match socks and pants. Match belt and shoes. How have I lived this long without that gem?

Final haul: four suits, three sport coats, three pairs of pants, socks, shirts, shoes and a belt. This is my little effort for the economy.

The alterations will be finished next week. I can’t wait to show off my new stuff.
