An New Event Added To The Schedule

The phone rang early for me. It was Michelle from my gastroenterologist’s office. She began somewhere in the second page.

Stop.

I didn’t say that, but she got the point.

Back up.

Didn’t say that either.

She thought hers was my second call about an addition to my schedule. Nope, the first.

After consultation, my surgeon, cardiologist and gastroenterologist decided I need an ERCP (Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography). Every procedure is interrelated. This one has to fit in without screwing up anything else.

My doctors know I want to be aggressive so they say yes for me before I get a chance. I think it works better this way, but it’s complex.

I developed jaundice with my bile duct clogged. This will be solved by my Whipple. Until then it’s prone to infection (and I have to wear colors which don’t clash with yellow). Another stent. My bile duct will resume functioning properly. Infection averted.

I’ll be under full anesthesia as they snake another tube down my throat. The guy who’s doing it was gentle the last time. I’m hoping. No one wants to do this.

Does it upset me more unpleasant stuff has been scheduled? Sure. But I’m on the conveyor belt and I need to take it to the end.

  1. Just let me tell you, this one is an easy one. Just had one last spring. In and out the same day, piece of cake. Don’t even know they did it. I also had a blocked bile duct, once opened the bile flows and it is all good. Easy one on this one!

  2. Good luck Geoff. My dad had this 2 times and it was just like an endoscopy. Piece of cake. Love your attitude. Sending best wishes.

  3. Geoff,

This is an easy test. In and out! I hope everything continues to work out for you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. You’ve got this and being is aggressive is the best way to tackle your situation. I’m happy you have a good support system and your family is visiting.

  4. I understand…never been a fan of tubes down my throat…and I DO prefer to be asleep during procedures! One more hurdle, to get you to the goal line! I know you are going to sail through this with flying colors! If you had not gotten diagnosed, who knows if you would have found out about the stents you needed!!!! Hugs to you and Elaine and all your family!!!

  5. God bless you Geoff. This positive attitude will get you through. You got this. You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers my friend…

  6. Greetings from Dayville, Geoff. OK, I forgive you for moving to Cal. I always loved watching your weather reporting; your exuberance, your positivity and your winning smile.
It’s great that you have brought that positive attitude to the current crisis in your life. Try to keep it up, it helps more than you can imagine. So glad you have your
family & friends and all the fans who love you for support. It’s all good! Keep on keeping on!

  7. Saturday greetings from Philly!
I hear your voice in my memory…I hear you handling life with the same attitude I watched in the 70’s. There are many blessings in staying positive yet focused. You are right on track here and all will be well my friend. Sending you a big hug for support and strength!

  8. Stay positive Geoff! It helps a lot! I pray that all go s well for you and you can have the whipple. I was scheduled for one and after several more tests they decided I couldn’t have it done. Big letdown there but I am staying positive and hoping that someday I will be able to have it. It has been 2 years! Stay well and be strong!
