The Clock Is Counting Down

Things had been quiet on the medical front until Thursday morning. The phone rang at ten of eleven. Don’t they realize I live on Hawaiian time?

It was the hospital calling. Some pre-registration instructions for Tuesday and a surprise. My surgery’s been moved to 7:00 AM with a 5:30 AM check-in. Surgeons are on the opposite of Hawaiian time.

This seemed like a good excuse to check back with my contact at the surgeon’s office. I made sure they also thought my surgery was at 7:00 AM.

Check.

On the phone I ran through a short list of what I’ve done and will be doing. This is dotting “i”s and crossing “t”s. They are strict. I’ll comply.

Next on the countdown is Sunday night and downing of a bottle of Magnesium Citrate, Can’t wait.

The countdown is in progress.

  1. Hopefully this time you actually get to have the surgery performed and no phone call on Monday to cancel. That would be terrible if you go through that prep again and they cancel. Best wishes.

  2. I’m following your journey and am praying for you .
5:30 is quite an early start to “that day” but it is good that you will be first, right after your doctors have their coffee.
I will be having surgery on Thursday at Smilow, Yale.
As you said, the adventure continues!
    Geoff, you can do this!

  3. Good luck Geoff…surgery is always scary but
yours is very important so I’m happy for you
that it’s finally here. God bless you….

  4. Offering up my prayers for you Geoff. We all know you can and will do this and do it well! That is “the Fox way!”. Prayers also for your family. BE STRONG, BE POSITIVE, BE DETERMINED!

  5. Yay….deep breaths….good thoughts…..following you thru all these nail biting, white knuckle times. You are doing great !

  6. Just think—you can down the citrate —then tune in to the debate! Should be a good combination!
All kidding aside—I’ll be thinking and praying for you, and the family.
Bet you were glad that your dad wasn’t still living in FL. It amazes me how many people do not even consider evacuating.

  7. Geoff we are all praying for a great outcome. Hopefully the surgeons have steady hands and good eyes so they can get whats no good in there and cleanse your body of those bad cells. Good luck

  8. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

  9. I’m wishing you a speedy surgery and a speedy recovery. I know it’s not supposed to be speedy from what you’ve written, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you. I do know you won’t be quite recovered in time for my trip out to SoCal which disappoints me a bit since I’ll be in Huntington Beach the last weekend of this month. I was hoping I could have convinced you to meet for lunch. I would love to meet you and your wife in person someday. Perhaps on my next trip in a few years. In the meantime, I remain one of your fans from Connecticut.
