Two Desires Cancer Brought Out

When you discuss or ponder cancer death is always included. You would think it’s the main fear factor. It isn’t.

I am not scared of death. I spoke with another late stage cancer ridden friend recently. Same thing. Not scared.

Years ago I played poker in Vegas with a hospice counselor. He said the same thing. No one dies scared of death.

We’re all going to die. We don’t know when. Nothing changed! That’s why death isn’t scary.

I have had two deep desires which have come out since my diagnosis. First, I wanted to speak with people I’ve known a long time but circumstances caused us to drift apart.

It’s been nice to rekindle friendships over the past months. Video makes it even better. We’re back face-to-face.

Second, I really feel an urge to tell the guys I love that I love them. This is not normally a guy thing. So far everyone seems good with it.

I haven’t gotten to everyone yet. Working on it.

  1. I worked in hospice for years. I used to fear death but I no longer do. Every day is a gift and we must live it to the fullest. Death is a peaceful process. I truly believe we are met with our past loved ones when pass. I have seen and heard to know.

  2. You have an outstanding attitude Geoff. I know after my husband
passed away and several friends have lost family members we have
now started ending our conversations with “I love you, or I treasure
you as a friend”. It is very important to let loved ones know how
we feel….there are no “do overs” in life so I get what you are
saying. God bless you, and may your recovery go well.

  3. You are 100% correct. I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It’s about making each day count. Show your gratitude, love, thankful for everything and people in your life. You only live once and make the best out of it. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family. Praying that chemo is not too bad

  4. The scientific definition of life is the ability of an organism to maintain a dynamic position away from equilibrium. We accomplish this by taking in compounds high in Entropy, we use the Entropy in the compounds we consume to create structure and excrete waste chemicals into the Environment. When we can no longer maintain this active position away from equilibrium we return to the environment from where we originated. The Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Hydrogen, Sulfur, Phosphorus, Calcium, magnesium, and around another 25 elements or so found in trace amounts that are found in our bodies have cycled through living organisms and inanimate forms probably 100s to 1,000s of times over just the history of our world. All of the atoms in our world with the exception of Hydrogen were created in the death of o star larger than our sun that when it ran out of Hydrogen began to burn Helium to form Carbon, Oxygen and the other heavier elements up to Iron. At that point no further new atoms can be made via fusion. The internal pressure cannot no longer support the weight of the outer layers. The star collapses and then explodes in a super nova scattering its life’s works throughout the galaxy. Our atoms we are composed of are billions of years old and will exist as long as our universe does. The collective of atoms which are composed of, within the period of sentience in our existence we understand as life, are replaced many times over. I guess that kind of makes us immortal in my eyes at least.

  5. I’ve been following your posts over the years but now daily.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
You would have enjoyed today, first snow of the year 1/4″ but it whiten the ground and was pretty against the colorful trees. Temp still 34 degrees but raining now. I miss your forecasts.
