Not Every Day Is A Good Day

It was probably a reaction to my chemo or post-chemo Neulasta. It wasn’t terrible, but it was debilitating. I was fatigued and slightly nauseous, a pretty awful combo.

Out on the patio right now. Feeling pretty good. That’s a nice change from the last day and a half.

Except for recording my broadcasts for Nebraska all of Friday was spent in bed. Not a good day. It was probably a reaction to my chemo or post-chemo Neulasta. It wasn’t terrible, but it was debilitating. I was fatigued and slightly nauseous, a pretty awful combo.

This is the kind of thing I expect, but can’t predict. It’s happened twice before, but I’ve had four chemo treatments.

Part of fighting cancer is understanding that it’s not going to be a continuous, steady march to the cure. Sometimes the effects of the treatment are worse than the disease. Actually, for me, all the treatments have been worse than the disease.

It’s important to focus on the goal and not worry about what happens along the way… or so I tell myself.

and prayers. I wish for you a peaceful healthy New Year…..

  4. Neulasta often kicked my husband’s butt. he ended up taking Tylenol at the same time as the shot to help with the pain from the bone marrow “kicking in”. Warm blankets also helped! The longer he had the Nuelasta the better he tolerated it. May your good days out weigh the not so good days.
Happy Hanukkah to you and your family!

  5. Happy Hanukkah, Jeff, from one of your New Haven, Connecticut fans
You and Dr Mel are the icons of weather lore and your smile and humor brought a smile to many a day.
Fight the good fight and cherish every day!!

  6. Don’t ever lose sight of the fact that a day above ground is a good day. Some days can be much better, but sometimes good is good enough.
Hang in there. We all hope you caught it early enough to beat it.
