Email Lists You Can’t Get Off

“Please allow up to 10 days for changes to your subscriptions to take effect,” they advise. Why? If you subscribe the emails begin within ten seconds.

The email came with large orange type:

“Remember Karen Cobiana Newest Class of ’68 Alum.”

No I don’t remember her. Maybe that’s because I went to an all-boys high school!

The email came from classmates.com and they passed the point where they were getting on my nerves a while ago. They say “real people, real names.” I’d remember a Karen.

It is so easy to get on Classmates list. It’s so tough to get off. I know. I’ve tried.

The unsubscribe page is confusing–easy to make a mistake. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe I screwed up the few times I’ve tried to extricate myself. Nah–who am I kidding. I can fill out a form.

Classmates: Gimme a break. Get out of my life and take Karen with you.
